Biography

Nicole Nelißen joined the Institute for Technologies and Management of Digital Transformation at the University of Wuppertal in January 2021. There, the sociologist contributes her expertise in project dissemination.

Nicole Nelißen started her career in journalism after graduating from high school with reports and features on universities, sports and local events for the local editorial team of the Aachener Nachrichten. After studying sociology and political science, she completed an editorial traineeship there, until the circles were widened: first at WAZ and Funkhaus Europa, then to South Africa, where she worked for ARD radio, various daily newspapers and a foundation. She came to science communication via an internship at the press office of Aachen University and her work in the communications office of the Uniklinikum Aachen(2002). Since 2012, she has been packaging scientifically complex relationships in a generally understandable way for various media channels - first at the Cybernetics Lab IMA & IfU at RWTH Aachen University, and now at the TMDT at the University of Wuppertal.
