Biography
Sarah-Lena Debus, born in Hagen in 1981, studied biology at Ruhr University Bochum and completed her degree with a grade of 1.4, finishing ahead of schedule. For her thesis in marine biology, she received a scholarship from the Mercator Foundation in cooperation with IFM-GEOMAR in Kiel, the University of Madeira, and the University of Kiel, conducting field research on Madeira for six months; the research results were published in 2017.
Since 2011, she has been head of the zdi center BeST at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, and Media Technology at the University of Wuppertal. Previously, she was quality assurance officer for teaching and studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and began her doctorate in zoology and biology education.
In September 2025, she was honored by the Körber Foundation in Hamburg for her outstanding commitment to promoting STEM subjects in Wuppertal, Solingen, and Remscheid.
Sarah-Lena Debus is married and has two daughters.
